Transitioning to Fall – Update

Since my last two “Transitioning to Fall” posts I have made a few changes. First is the front porch…I ordered a mesh sunflower wreath from a vendor on Etsy. It arrived this week and I placed it over the wicker settee to add some additional sunflower decor. I had thought to make one myself…I watched several YouTube videos but decided it was easier to try to find one already made. This one from Etsy was priced reasonably and included shipping. I am totally happy with the wreath…its color, quality and design!

Second, I brought up my three-tiered tray from storage in the basement, placed it on the oak dresser in the living room and decorated it to compliment the early fall decor. I love playing with this tiered tray, changing its decorations for the holidays and seasons! I also added a second tall lamp with Edison light bulb purchased from Hobby Lobby. Both lamps were purchased during one of their recent 1/2-off lamp sales. The three miniature needlepoint samplers that were on this dresser I moved to another display location.

Next, our new kitchen cabinets arrived at 10;25am this past Thursday! They are sitting in the living room until installation which will be probably later this month. Just really happy they are here!

I needed to move the oak rocking chair and small side table to make room for the kitchen cabinet boxes in the living room. I placed chair and table in the TV room then decorated the side oak dresser to compliment the early fall decor theme. The orange agate lamp comes out of storage each year for the fall season. The felted sunflower is something I made in a workshop at a needlework shop in Howell MI many years ago. The materials were provided included the “bed spring” which is used as a “stem” for the sunflower.

A final note…about the “focus” of my pictures…I use a Nikon Coolpix point-&-shoot camera which does not produce a crisp focus picture most of the time, especially in lower light levels. David and I are both needing new I-Phones…and I have made the request that my new phone comes with a good camera! Any recommendations?!

St. Patrick’s Tiered Tray

I spent the past weekend converting from my February Valentine decor to March’s St. Patrick’s decor. As much as I loved my Valentine theme throughout the house, I needed the change and to feel the invitation to Spring with the bright greens of shamrocks. This post features my three tiered tray that I have fun putting together for each holiday theme.

Valentine Tiered Tray

I enjoy changing the decor on my three tiered tray for each holiday or season! Now it is all decorated for Valentine’s. Also included in my Valentine display is an amaryllis arrangement consisting of three amaryllis bulbs…one white double flowering “Marquis” amaryllis bulb with two tall stems, and two pink “Amigo” amaryllis bulbs each with a single flowering stem. I planted these three bulbs together in the white ceramic vase right after Christmas. They perfectly compliment the Valentine theme!

Christmas Tiered Tray

I had a “White Christmas” theme for Christmas 2020 and I carried it through all my holiday decorating…inside and outside. Here is my three-tiered tray and surrounding area complimenting the “White Christmas” theme featuring my snowmen and Santa. Both daylight and evening light pictures are included in this post.

Thanksgiving Tiered Tray

In recent years I haven’t done a lot of decorating for Thanksgiving…I jump right into Christmas after Halloween. I had fun with my new three-tiered tray for fall (see post for Sunday, October 4, 2020 – “Autumn Three-Tiered Tray) so I decided to unpack some of my stored Thanksgiving decor and put together a Thanksgiving vignette with my tiered tray and surrounding antique red-oak furniture. Hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving.

Autumn Three-Tiered Tray

For awhile now I have wanted a tiered tray for seasonal and holiday decorating. I have seen many styles and sizes of tiered trays on Pinterest and Etsy, each filled with all sorts of fun and creative items for Valentine’s, Easter, Fall, Christmas, etc.

I looked and looked at many tiered trays online but either the price or the style wasn’t right. Finally a pop-up ad caught my attention for an off-white wooden three-tiered tray and the price was reasonable. I ordered the tiered tray and it was literally here within 48 hours! I needed to assemble it…fortunately all the parts were there and even a little wrench was included to tighten the parts!

Now the fun part of filling it! Well…this turned out to be more of a challenge than I thought. It took multiple re-doings to finally get things arranged to my liking. I actually had to go back to Pinterest and Etsy to study their decorated tiered trays. A variety of size, texture, color, and height of the filler items is important to create the right balance and interest.

So using items I already have on hand…here is my decorated three-tiered tray for this Autumn and Halloween season…during the day and lit up at night.

*1st note…for those familiar with our home…after I concluded the Themed Teas, I moved the stacks of storage drawers from the TV-sunroom to an upstairs room and replaced that space with one of my antique oak dressers. I have the tiered tray displayed on this dresser. So much prettier to look at when I am sitting in my comfy chair!

*2nd note…the pieced and quilted Jack-O-Lantern wall hoop is something I made decades ago…still looks good!
